WAJIHIDS OF OMAN - A UNIQUE SILVER COIN STRUCK IN OMAN. 'Umar b. Yusuf, AH 340-350 (951-961). Dirham AH 340 (951-52), Uman. Inscription centrale sur cinq lignes flanquée d'un point à gauche, le tout entouré d'une double légende circulaire / Inscription centrale sur six lignes flanquée d'une étoile à gauche, le tout entouré d'une légende circulaire. 4,16g. cf. This rare and apparently unrecorded coin confirms that Umar b. Yusuf succeeded his brother in AH 340 and not 341 as had been suggested previously. Few written records remain of the Wajihid dynasty, which ruled the Oman region in the fourth century of the Hegira. Most of our current knowledge about this dynasty has been gained through the study of coins.
