Inscription centrale sur cinq lignes, entourée d'une double légende circulaire et d'un cercle vide marginal / Inscription centrale sur quatre lignes entourée d'une légende circulaire et d'un cercle vide marginal. From the reign of the caliph al-Mutawakkil (AH 232-247), it was customary to strike dinars on large blanks and give them to important visitors as gifts. Such coins often became highly prized items, including this one, which was worn on a necklace at the time. The date AH 300 was hitherto unknown and this coin is probably unique.
